5 Reasons Your Powersports Shop Isn’t Showing Up on Google
When someone searches "motorcycle repair near me" or "ATV dealer [your city]" and your shop doesn't show up, that's not bad luck. Google isn't guessing who deserves to rank, it's reading signals, and most shops are missing a few basic ones. Here are the five that come up the most.
1. Your Google Business Profile isn't claimed or verified
If you haven't claimed your listing, Google has no reason to trust or promote it, and someone else could technically edit it. This is the first thing to check, and it's free to fix directly through Google.
2. Your profile is missing basic details
Hours, categories, service area, phone number: if any of these are blank, outdated, or wrong, Google has less to work with and searchers have less reason to trust you. A powersports shop that's only categorized as "auto repair" is also invisible to anyone specifically searching for motorcycle or ATV service.
3. You have few or no reviews, or you never respond to them
Review count and recency are a real ranking factor, not just a trust signal for customers. A shop with three reviews from two years ago reads as inactive to Google, even if you're busy every day.
4. Your website doesn't mention your city or service area
If your site never actually says the name of your city or the areas you serve, Google has a harder time connecting your business to local searches. Generic pages without any location language do less work than you'd think.
5. You're not posting anything, so there's nothing recent to show
Google Business Profile lets you post updates the same way you'd post to social media. An inactive profile signals an inactive business, even when that's not true.
The fix is usually smaller than it looks
None of these require a new website or a big budget. They require someone to actually go in, fill in the gaps, and keep the profile active. Local SEO and Google Business Profile management is part of our Growth and Full monthly packages, alongside the social content and ads we handle for shops.
