Google Business Profile Mistakes That Are Costing Powersports Shops Local Customers
Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing a potential customer sees, before your website, before your Instagram, sometimes before they even know your shop's name. These are the mistakes that quietly cost shops local customers every day.
Wrong or inconsistent hours
Nothing loses trust faster than a customer showing up to a shop that's listed as open but is actually closed. If your hours change seasonally, update them, and check that holiday hours are set instead of left blank.
Missing or outdated photos
A listing with no photos, or photos from years ago, tells people less about your shop than one with current shots of the storefront, the shop floor, and recent work. Photos are also one of the easiest things to add and update.
Not selecting the right categories
If your shop is only categorized as "auto repair shop" and you also service motorcycles or ATVs, you're invisible to anyone specifically searching for that service. Google lets you add multiple categories, and most shops only use one.
Ignoring questions and reviews
The Q&A section on your profile is public, and so are your review responses. Unanswered questions and reviews sit there for every future visitor to see, and an unanswered negative review looks worse than a response ever would.
Never posting updates
Google Business Profile has its own posting feature, separate from social media, and most shops never touch it. An active profile with recent posts signals a business that's actually open and running, which is exactly what search rankings reward.
Fixing this doesn't require a new website
Every one of these is a profile setting or a habit, not a redesign. Google Business Profile and local SEO management is included in our Growth and Full Monthly Packages, alongside the content and ads work we handle for shops.
